Activity Description

Respiratory Health Association (RHA) is developing a public awareness campaign, Women Empowered through COPD Awareness and Respiratory health Education (WE CARE), aimed at women who have or who may have COPD. The campaign is two pronged – 1) patient-focused media materials and 2) a provider-focused education series. The patient-focused part of the campaign will focus materials around three main themes – identifying COPD signs and symptoms, tobacco cessation, and available treatments. The provider education series will include best practices videos, office materials, and a community health worker training with emphasis on women and COPD. Inspiration for this campaign came from recent data showing an upward trend of COPD diagnoses among women.
