Activity Description

This webinar provided an overview to beneficiaries on the Medicare publication titled "Medicare Coverage of Durable Medical Equipment and Other Devices" (pub.11045). Updates were made to this publication in August 2020 in order to better meet the needs of Medicare beneficiaries, and this webinar reviewed those updates.

Our guest speakers were Tangita Daramola, Competitive Acquisition Ombudsman for CMS and her colleague, Barbara McCoy, Associate Ombudsman for CMS. Tangita and Barbara discussed the updates that have been made to the publication with a special focus on respiratory durable medical equipment issues. They also covered resources available to Medicare beneficiaries, where beneficiaries can go to obtain assistance, and answered questions from participants.

Advice or Lessons Learned

Encourage participants to submit questions in writing in advance and during the webinar. Doing so allowed the participants to get their questions answered, while also keeping the flow of the webinar consistent, as the speakers did not have to stop to answer questions in real time. Answers to any questions that were not answered live due to time constraints were posted on the USCC website, along with a video recording of the webinar.
