Start Date: 12/2021
End Date: 11/2025
Primary Goal: Goal 4: Increase and sustain research to better understand the prevention, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and management of COPD.
Secondary Goal(s):
Objective(s):
  • Help expand, coordinate, and optimize COPD research efforts
  • Improve methods for earliest detection and diagnosis and develop effective strategies for preventing the onset and progression of COPD
  • Promote research that can lead to strategies that help prevent the onset and progression of COPD and improve the quality of COPD care and management
Collaboration: Dartmouth College
Activity Type: Research

Activity Description

This NHLBI-funded research activity is being carried out by Dartmouth College.

The proposed program in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) will provide actionable tools and information from health care data and machine learning to identify early and prevent COPD disease progression and major adverse health care encounters. The risk tools will be used in every day out-patient health care practice to help prevent disease progression requiring home oxygen use, major adverse health care encounters, and improve health care delivery for patients living with COPD in the community.
