Activity Description

During this workshop, experts explored research opportunities that could lead to more effective delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) using telehealth and telemedicine. Presenters included experts in PR, telehealth and telemedicine, healthcare delivery organizations, and medical billing and payments. Opportunities identified by attendees may be used to inform a research agenda for the pulmonary community and could support the COPD National Action Plan.

Participants looked for answers to the following questions:

• Which telehealth PR model might be most feasible and acceptable to the end-users (patients, health care professionals, insurers)?
• How can telehealth PR be tested in a variety of settings for efficacy, safety, user acceptance, and cost effectiveness?
• What will be required to successfully implement telehealth PR in the real world?
