- Increase public awareness of the risk factors and symptoms of COPD so that earlier diagnosis of symptomatic individuals becomes the norm
- Increase the effectiveness and variety of outreach communication campaigns and activities that utilize evidence-based approaches to raise awareness of COPD, particularly among those at high risk, and help people diagnosed with COPD manage the disease
- Expand opportunities to increase COPD awareness across the public-private spectrum

Activity Description
Breathe CA educates vulnerable communities, such as Vietnamese, Chinese, and Hispanic, through culturally-tailored efforts, working with established community partners, such as senior centers and ethnic-focused community-based organizations, engaging families and caregivers, and providing resources that are translated from English into other languages to reach these diverse communities. The process of translating materials will take a couple of months of planning. Beginning with recruiting volunteer translators, then pilot translation to community members, revise the translated material, select printing, and disseminate to high risk populations such as seniors.Audience

The cost of this activity will be roughly $2,500 on staff funding and a fraction on printing cost with 2-3 volunteer translators.Impact Analysis
Many of the senior centers we are partnered with have high population of Asian language speakers like Mandarin and Vietnamese. Providing resources that are translated from English into Asian languages will help us reach these diverse communities and increase awareness of COPD.Advice or Lessons Learned
Quarterly timing changed for some activities due to COVID-19, taking longer to develop in new formats and harder to reach everyone, partners, and clients. Pivot to distance learning format and socially distancing efforts to distribute materials to reach target audience.Related Links
